Yes folks, it’s the obligatory warm and fuzzy Thanksgiving post – i’ll keep it short and sweet!
After only a few months i have to say first and foremost I am thankful for ANDREW McCLUSKEY! marketing genius, the sane side of Kilted Chaos, SEO wizard and all round great guy to work with on many fun projects. Just this morning we were brainstorming some ideas that we’ll be launching in 2010 that take the Kilted Brand name beyond our current services, but that’s a whole set of blog posts and i’m keeping quiet on them for now. The point being – when I come up with an idea, and email Andrew saying “hey dude, what if….?” he’s either all over it, expanding on the concept and 100% on board, or he’s blunt and to the point and tells me “That’s a big old pile of pants mate!”. Thankfully so far at least, most of my ideas have been good ones
Secondly – I am thankful for each and every follower and friend of Chaos! All you good people, friends, family, Facebook users, “Twits” etc – it’s the old rock and roll Cliche, but we really believe we wouldn’t be who we are and do what we do without your support and even your occasional criticism!
Also – i’m thankful for the revelation that the only people that i’m accountable to are: My family (I screw up, kids don’t get new toys – that’s a huge burden to put on a parent -thanks kids!) and if I don’t do a good kilted Chaos job, my wife beats me up! (Which actually is a little kinky and i like it
And its a strong feeling and something to be very thankful for the fact that on a deeper business level, the only people I have to justify my success on a career level is ME and Kilted Andrew. no overpaid CEO, full of HR cliches about the “family” or the “corpornate culture” all that crap. Trust me, 90% of HR cliches are just that -cliches, devised to make $. First time the economy tanks, that same *cough* “family” won’t hesitate to put you out on the streets
But now, for the first time ever, I am accountable to a brand that I control, I steer it’s growth, its future. No red tape stopping me implementing something, no endless meetings to even get a new page added to a website, no VP of marketing that can’t even spell Social Media
Yes folks, it’s been an up and down year, but I have way more to be thankful for than many people right now. I have a “job” i’m 300% stoked to be doing, a family that i love 600% and a coworker that i love in a totally non gay way! (“Not that there’s anything wrong with that” as Jerry Seinfeld used to say!)
I truly see Kilted Chaos as more than a brand – I’d almost even call it a CLAN (That’s clan with a C before you of lesser intelligence start talking nonsense!) – because a clan is a family and Kilted Chaos believe each and every client, and everyone that interacts with us deserves to be treated as part of our Clan. (Oh, well except for you Douchebags, Experts and mavens of course, you know what we think of you
With that, I wish each and every “Friend of Chaos” a safe, fun filled, family oriented Thanksgiving!
Kilted Chaos is now closed for the holidays, have a great time and DON’T WORK – AT ALL!!!!!!
