Your Website is You!

It has to look like you, sound like you, talk like you in your voice and do pretty much everything that you do.  It should be able to stream video and music, display images and update Twitter and Facebook without you doing anything, it should be able to collect email addresses and comments, collect money and deliver stuff and unlike you - it has to be really easy to use.

Most importantly though, it’s got to be a cinch for you to add stuff like blog posts, photos, videos and even better - have fans add stuff too.   Alex and Andrew have been building sites like this for years and we know how to make them easy to use.

Your Music = Unique / Your Website = Derivative

April 16, 2010

Ask any band what they sound like and you can guarantee that they’ll tell you they’re unique. Sure they might give you qualifying reference points: Led Zeppelin meets the Eagles – Karen Carpenter on top of Diane Birch (Hmmmm!) but at the end of the day – when you listen to the band – there [...]

February 19, 2010

In the light of Google closing down music blogs, AKA #musicblogocide2K10, I got to thinking about the ongoing question of how to “stay legal” on your blog – and a quick easy solution came to me: ADD THE LICENSE! … Well, maybe! After a retweet by @charliehilton of @pigsandplans saying he was moving to WordPress because Google were shutting down blogs, I did a little researching of my own, and it seem they’re right: “Musicblogocide2K10” does indeed seem to be starting.  I’m sure there will be no official line from Google on this for [...]

Some labels get it…

And one i stumbled upon recently: PEAPOD RECORDS sure does! Peapod Recordings hail out of Maine and pretty much have everything well in place both in terms of design and with their marketing.  I am going to subtract points from them for only having their blog in wordpress, when the whole darn site could have [...]

January 30, 2010
