Avatars
The Internet is a visual medium – people see you before they hear you; the impression created by your website or logo or avatar will shape how they perceive and experience your project.
You know that groovy stage shirt you’ve got for the next show or that tux you rented for the premiere – well your logo – your visual brand – it’s on display every single day. If you look cheap and nasty – people are going to associate cheap and nasty with your project. Now – cheap and nasty might be what you’re going for – which is great - but take a minute or two to think about how you’re being presented.
Your image has to look good across different platforms, in different sizes and often different colors. Is your explanatory text readable at 50 by 50 pixels? Does that stunning logo with the sun setting over the mountains really work as a Twitter avatar?
Spending a little time to ensure that you look as good as you sound is well worth the time and effort.
